Health and Safety is Important to Us

VPS Holdings Ltd places a high priority in achieving excellence throughout its business operations. This commitment extends to and incorporates high standards of health and safety management and risk minimisation for all its employees and to anyone who may be affected including visitors and the public.

To meet this objective the Group plans the strategy and promotes strong commitment to continuous improvement within each operating Company. Co-ordination  is also provided to ensure communication, the adoption of best practices and innovative solutions throughout the organisation through the Director designated with specific responsibility.

The Group structure empowers  senior management at each Company to have ultimate local responsibility to develop and improve the safety culture within this Group approach, and to establish and ensure the achievement of high standards through:

  • the allocation of appropriate resources financial, personnel and time including the appointment of a Company co-ordinator
  • the production and communication of formal policies and procedures
  • provision of appropriate training for all levels
  • adoption of regular internal monitoring procedures to maintain and further improve standards
  • plans with priorities targets and timescales for continuous improvement action.

The Group aims to ensure legal compliance throughout its operations as an absolute minimum and local management, through their co-ordinators, are expected to ensure awareness of, and compliance with, all statutory and regulatory requirements of each country in which they operate.

The Group actively promotes the need for all employees to have the instruction and training appropriate to the nature of their work, to enable them to work safely while emphasising their own responsibility and obligations for the safety and integrity of themselves, fellow employees, and anyone else that could be affected.

The Group’s objective is to minimise accidents and ill health and incidents are monitored  and statistics collated and analysed  with a view to achieving year on year improvement.  Key performance indicators  are used to assist in the proactive management of  health and safety matters.

The Group’s objective is to minimise the risk of accidents and ill health  to our employees and the community at large.  Incidents and near misses are recorded, collated, analysed and reported using Key Performance Indication to assist in the proactive development of our health and safety strategy. Our aim is continuous year on year improvement within the business.

A pro-active and reactive approach will be adopted to risk assessment and safe systems of work both Group wide and locally, utilising  best practice principles to help ensure continual improvement.  

In order to monitor the progress and status of the overall health and safety management system the Group  ensures independent competent external monitoring and advice is implemented and sought wherever necessary.. Utilising external expert advice  assists  the Group in achieving its  strategy for continuous improvement, by enabling the Group to benchmark standards both internally and with industry generally.   This approach enables the Group  to promote best practice.

The principles set out in this policy are aimed at setting and specifying the Group’s objectives, which  establishes a Group-wide philosophy and co-ordinated approach. We expect all our managers and team leaders to accept their important roles assisting in driving continuous improvement with the full co-operation of all employees sharing in this collective Group wide commitment.

In keeping with the Groups strategy the Policy will be regularly reviewed to ensure it is appropriate and reflects best practice , taking account of  the  status  of  the organisation as it further expands and develops.
