VPS Holdings Ltd places a high priority in achieving excellence throughout its business operations and recognises the importance of its responsibilities on environmental issues. The Group is sensitive to the interests of the community, the countryside and all stakeholders and will strive to ensure that effective management organisation and procedures are implemented to further minimise our potential impact on the environment including pro active re-cycling of products and services wherever possible within Group businesses.

The Group will adopt a strategy to minimise environmental pollution risks and will endeavour to implement an approach in keeping with the concept of sustainable development through effective management of our materials and resources seeking the best options with least risk. We will also integrate our approach to environmental management with health and safety on a similar basis.

To meet these objectives the Group will plan the strategy and promote strong commitment to continuous improvement within each operating Company. Co-ordination will also be provided to ensure communication, and the adoption of best practices throughout the organisation through the Director designated with specific responsibility.

The Group believes that senior management at each operating Company are empowered to improve environmental standards within the Group philosophy and to establish and maintain high standards with management resource appropriate to the level of risk within our operations including:
  • the allocation of appropriate resources financial, personnel and time through the Company’s health, safety and environment co-ordinators
  • the production and communication of formal policies, procedures instruction and training as appropriate to the risks
  • adoption of regular internal monitoring procedures to maintain and further improve standards
  • plans with priorities targets and timescales for continuous improvement action as appropriate to the risks.
The Group aims to ensure legal compliance throughout its operations as an absolute minimum and local management, with their co-ordinators, will be expected to ensure awareness of, and compliance with, all statutory and regulatory requirements of each country in which they operate.

In particular the Group and each Company’s specific aims will be to:
  • Assess environmental risks in general operations and emergency scenarios
  • Replace hazardous substances with safer products or further minimise the use of these substances where this is not practicable
  • Prevent emissions and releases of any potentially hazardous materials to air, water or land and ensure emergency provisions for leaks and spillages
  • Conserve natural resources through careful planning and efficient use
  • Minimise waste through source reduction and recycling
  • Store, handle and dispose of wastes through safe, environmentally responsible methods in accordance with legislative requirements
  • Effectively manage and minimise energy usage.
  • Ensure environmental risks are considered in planning
The Group actively promotes the need for employees to have instruction and training appropriate to the risks from their work ensuring that they are adequately informed of the potential impacts and environmental implications.

In order to ensure good environmental standards are maintained the Group will ensure independent competent external reviews with ongoing advice alongside the periodic health and safety appraisals. The aim will be to assist in the Group’s strategy for continuous improvement and to promote best practice and communications for an efficient approach.

The principles set out in this policy are aimed at setting and specifying the Group’s objectives, which will establish a Group-wide philosophy and co-ordinated approach. We expect all our managers, team leaders and employees to fully co-operate and share in this collective Groupwide commitment.

In keeping with the Groups strategy the Policy will be regularly reviewed to ensure its ongoing status as the organisation further expands and develops.
